Travelling from Brussels to Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
On the way to Benin, the plane had a stopover in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The time here is two hours behind Belgium and one hour behind Benin. God has been very gracious to give me a lot of sleep on my flights. I brought some earplugs which were a life saver. One thing I hate about travelling though is falling asleep sitting mostly upright. Do your arms ever fall asleep when you sleep upright? It happens to me, and when I wake up I feel so uncomfortable.
We have landed in the Ivory Coast. It looks quite cloudy and hot here in Côte d'Ivoire, but as we were not allowed to leave the plane, I am not certain what the weather is like. Most people on the flight got off in Abidjan, although there were still many who remained onboard to continue on to Benin. My French is quite terrible, and I am embarrassed at my inability to communicate much at all with people. From what one man told me, French is the national language of Côte d'Ivoire, and everyone there speaks it. It is also fascinating to know that most of the flight attendants can speak at least three languages! Hopefully I will be able to improve my French on this trip. (:
