Rathaus (City Hall).
It has been very exciting to participate in early Christmas preparations here in Germany.  I also cannot believe that I was finally able to experience a German Christmas market (Weihnachtsmarkt).  My plan was to eat German waffles at the market yesterday, but we could not find any.  However, we did enjoy some delicious hot chocolate and had a good day exploring the city in fresh, cold air!  Either it has not been as cold as yesterday, or I am beginning to get used to temperatures around zero degrees Celsius.

On my way...home?

My flight to Canada was uneventful and relaxing.  Although I was assigned a seat in the middle of the plane, it was quite far from full, so I was able to snag window seat.  The warm sun was an enjoyable gift from God, and a little taste of African warmth through the airplane window!

Clouds Over the Atlantic.
This gift of sun reminds me that God gives the right amount of light and heat to the earth, with the planet being the necessary distance from the sun, and the correct speed of rotation, to sustain life!  The fact that God has so ordered the world to have times (days, nights) and seasons is very comforting.  The book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible speaks about how God has appointed a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1).  When we start to wonder why we are in a certain place or situation, especially if it is not what we would have chosen, we can always draw peace from the Word of God.
He has made everything appropriate in its time.  He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. ~ Ecclesiastes 3:11
We may not know the future (I certainly do not), but God does.  This is something that I likely will need to regularly remind myself of in the coming weeks and months, especially as I transition to living back in Canada.
