Never alone

When you feel alone,
run to Jesus.
When your friends and family
abandon you
and all is not what it should be,
run to Jesus.

He is
all you need.
He will
bring comfort and peace.

When feelings begin to run away
and you cannot
calm yourself down,
run to Jesus.

He
completely understands.
He, too,
became a man and was tempted as we are.
He has
experienced what we are going through.

No Pit Too Deep

This post is brief, but I wanted to share some passages of Scripture that have been a great comfort to me as I struggle through difficulties and disappointments in life.  There are plenty of questions asked in the verses from Psalm 77.  They are all rhetorical, meant to elicit a "no" in response.  Of course God has not forgotten about us!  Of course what He promised will always come to pass!  May this be a great encouragement, especially if you are grieving or are alone!

If you feel far from God because of sin, please do not be slow to repent!  Repent speedily and ask the Father to restore your relationship.  However, if you have carefully searched your heart and do not see any unrepentant sin, but still sense that God is not near, especially take these verses to heart and claim that you will remember the deeds of the Lord, and you will one day recall to mind all the good things that God has done!

Psalm 77

For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted.
When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint.  Selah.
You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
I have considered the days of old, The years of long ago.
I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders:

Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again?
Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever?
Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion?  Selah.
Then I said, "It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed."

I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds.
Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God?
You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples.
You have by Your power redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph.  Selah.

The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The deeps also trembled.
The clouds poured out water; The skies gave forth a sound; Your arrows flashed here and there.
The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.
Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known.
You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Philippians 2:5-8

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Hebrews 4:12-16

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

How wonderful that no matter what our circumstances, our faithful Lord is near!
